Works for the Variable Speed Limit project (Safe speed limits outside schools) around Queen Margaret College, Thorndon School & Wlg Girls College has now been completed.
The new variable speed limit signage has been installed around the schoolzone in accordance with the Government’s Land Transport Rule: Setting of Speed Limits 2024. These changes support safer travel for tamariki, whānau, and the wider community during school travel times.
The updated variable speed limits are now in place and will apply during school pick-up and drop-off periods, as indicated on the signs. Wellington City Council will be working with NZ Police to enforce the updated speed limits within this zone.
We kindly ask schools and community representatives to help share this information with parents, caregivers, and the wider community, to ensure
everyone is aware of the updated speed limits and enforcement now in place.
