Upcoming road resurfacing is planned for the school holidays at the end of September / early October. An exact date will be advised closer to the time.

The school holidays have been chosen to minimise the impact on the various schools in the area, but there will be some disruption when the work is happening. The plan is to close Hobson Street for the duration of work which, weather depending, will be 3 days. The closure will be from Tinakori Road to Moturoa Street between 8am-5pm, although this is yet to be confirmed. This work will be done in stages, starting from the Moturoa Street end.

During work hours, Resident and Business access will still be possible but only when it is safe to do so. Vehicles will not be allowed through the active area when the mill is in full flow or the workers are laying fresh asphalt. Because of this, we recommend parking outside of the work area even if you have your own driveway.

What’s happening?
This is to advise you that the planned maintenance work to the kerb, channel and footpath that was planned to start earlier in January will now be starting soon. Unforeseen circumstances has led to a delay, but we will still endeavour to complete as much as possible before the new school year begins.

Hobson Street, sections between Hobson Cres and Fitzherbert Terrace
START: Monday 16th January, 2023
ESTIMATED FINISH: Late February, 2023
WORK HOURS: Between 7am and 5pm

This work is weather dependent and in the event of unsuitable weather or other unforeseen circumstances, the work will possibly be delayed. You will be updated accordingly.

Will we be back?
Yes, this work is in preparation for road resurfacing within the next 12 months.
Please ensure your vehicle is parked clear of the worksite.
To do this work we need the site to be clear of vehicles and other obstructions so parking will be affected. We will do our best to minimise disruption as much as possible but please ensure your vehicle is parked clear of the highlighted work area. If your vehicle is parked in the way we may have to tow it to a suitable park nearby. Should your vehicle be moved and not returned to its original location, please check nearby streets first before ringing the contractor listed on the reverse.

What access will be available during this time?
A no through traffic closure will be in place on Hobson Cres with only residents having vehicular access during work hours. Stop/go traffic management will be in place on Hobson Street to allow vehicle access at all times. This will be accompanied by a reduced speed limit. Pedestrians and cyclists will still be able to use the route but please follow the directions of our crew when passing through the work site.

Will these road works affect access to my property?
Residents and / or business owners will have access to their property but during phases of resealing you may experience some delays. In the case of an emergency, essential services will be given priority. If you are expecting a delivery or have a tradesperson needing access we will navigate them through the work site. Rubbish collection and recycling will continue as usual.

Will there be impact to bus services?
Bus services will not be impacted by this work and will run as usual.
