The district plan maps provide the WCC Planners’ definition. As a quick guide we have created this interactive map. You can zoom-in to any area to see more detail and move it about (left mouse click + drag). This map shows the extent of three area types:
- inner residential areas (914 land parcels)
- outer residential area (20 land parcels)
- suburban centre area (25 land parcels)
Note: a land parcel and a property are not equivalent, though frequently do correlate on typical house + section situations. Clearly there are a few exceptions to this in Thorndon, including special sites like Queen Margaret College among numerous others.
We are working towards deriving the number of properties for residential Thorndon and deriving an estimate of the total rateable value contribution.
