Work is now underway on pedestrian safety improvements on Tinakori Road and Hill Street. These improvements will improve visibility and reduce vehicle speeds so that pedestrians are able to cross safely.
Work completed
- On Tinakori Road, our contractors have raised the existing pedestrian crossing
- On Hill Street, three of the four planned speed humps have also been installed.
Next steps on Hill Street and Tinakori Road
The safer speed zone of 30kp/h from Tinakori Village is being extended along Tinakori Road and down Hill Street. Road markings and signage for this speed change will be installed soon.
Work to install the remaining speed hump and raise the existing pedestrian crossing on Hill Street will also get underway soon. We’re coordinating with schools in the area and with Wellington Water regarding the timing of this work, so we can minimise disruption in the area.
