Traffic & Parking Action Group

The Traffic & Parking Action Group is investigating solutions for four different issues:

1. Pedestrian safety including seeking new pedestrian crossings on lower Tinakori Road, Thorndon Quay and Fitzherbert Terrace (across to the new playground at Katherine Mansfield Park).

2. Traffic on Tinakori Road, in particularly limiting speeding on all parts of Tinakori Road, lowering the speed limit through Tinakori Village to ensure it is easier for visitors to park, a restriction on air brake use by trucks on Tinakori Road and eventual removal of heavy trucks from Tinakori Road (diverting them via Aotea Quay and Bowen St instead).

3. Traffic on Hobson St and Motorua St, including minimising speed and heavy construction traffic.

4. Parking issues including an over abundance of coupon parking and abuse of the resident parking system by non residents.
