Action
Groups & Current Projects
The
TRA is an incorporated society which was established in 2008 by a group
of concerned citizens who saw the need for an active and effective body
to communicate residents’ collective views to local authorities and
other similar bodies (including about improvements to Thorndon’s
community facilities, town planning issues and traffic and parking
concerns).

Tinakori
Road Village Revitalisation Action Group
|
Graffiti
in Thorndon
|
|
The
Tinakori Road Village Revitalisation Action Group has been put on hold
but if any member of the community is interested in heading this group
please let the TRA know.
The
initial interest of this group was to look at
following issues:
-
Working
with the Traffic & Parking Action Group in relation to slowing
traffic through the village, removing trucks from Tinakori Road and
increasing parking for shop visitors in the area (but not at the expense
of Thorndon resident parking);
-
Beautification
of Tinakori Road Village with hanging baskets or planting and improving
basic services in the Village (e.g. installing rubbish bins, a post box
and providing accessible information about the historic buildings in or
near the village). Due
to lobbying by the TRA, the Wellington City Council has agreed to
install a public rubbish bin in the Village;
-
Investigating
the possibility of a bus route that encompasses Tinakori Road Village
(possibly linking the Northern end of Tinakori Road with the Village).
Please
contact Jo Freeman on info@thorndon.org.nz
if you are interested in being involved in this group or have comments
or suggestions you would like to raise about the above issues. |
You
may have noticed the dramatic increase in graffiti in Thorndon of late.
The TRA Committee has been on the case and has started plotting
graffiti sites on a public google map.
